Former Australia captain Steve Smith will miss Comilla Victorians’ next two matches in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) after aggravating an old elbow injury in the last couple of days. Smith will return to Australia to address the situation but is expected to return around next week.

“The condition is created when the elbow is put under a lot of stress, leaving the area feeling stiff while the hands and wrists feel weak. "We are hoping that he will join us if nothing serious is found in the MRI," Victorians coach Mohammad Salahuddin told Cricbuzz.

Smith, who led the Victorians to one win in the two games, made 16 and 0 in his two innings against Sylhet Sixers and Rangpur Riders.

He is currently serving a one-year ban for his role in the ball-tampering scandal in the Newlands Test against South Africa in March 2018.

Smith’s compatriot David Warner was also suspended for 12 months while opener Cameron Bancroft, who was handed a nine-month ban, recently returned to cricket field for Perth Scorchers in the Big Bash League (BBL).
