IPL 2019: 5 players Delhi Capitals may look to in auction
The only good thing happened to Delhi Capitals in 2018 was Rishabh Pant. Their overall show was just a copy of their performance in the other previous editions of IPL. Delhi only managed to win 5 games and never looked like progressing to the playoffs. Besides struggling to break the jinx, the unstable captaincy was among the major highlights of the season.
Strength: It’s just inappropriate to mention a strength in case of a team that finished off at the bottom. However, the team performed comparatively better with the bat than with the ball. Rishabh Pant amassed 684 runs and lacked support from the fellow batters except for the mid-season captain who produced 411 runs with the bat. Delhi lost a few close fights due to their too much dependency over the duo.
Weakness: In the case of Delhi Capitals, bowling was definitely the weakest point. They failed to restrict their opponents on most of the occasions. Trent Boult picking 18 wickets was the only success story for Delhi’s bowling department. Besides him, Amit Mishra’s 12 wickets was a noteworthy display of performance. But in the bigger picture, Delhi struggled to impress with the ball.
With a salary cap of whopping of 25.5 crores, Delhi should focus on fixing their lower middle order and get an all-rounder on board.
