If Virat Kohli has a good World Cup, India will win it: Ricky Ponting

Ricky Ponting believes India can win the 2019 World Cup if Virat Kohli has a good tournament with the bat.
Kohli, 30, has been India’s best batsman across formats in the last six to seven years. He’s on course to break Sachin Tendulkar's record of most ODI centuries. While the ‘Master Blaster’ leads the list with 49 centuries, Kohli is second with 41.
The India captain’s batting exploits have also fuelled the never-ending comparisons with Tendulkar and Ponting is the latest high-profile name to speak on the same.
"I don’t think we can get to the conclusion till Virat’s career is over. Only then will we have a clearer picture. Sachin is a legend. Yes, you can say Virat is piling up runs. His Test average is more than 50 (53.76). But Sachin maintained that (average) in 200 Tests. Virat’s ODI record, though, is unbelievable. That’s why I feel India are a very dangerous side. If Virat has a good World Cup, India will win," the former Australia captain told The Times of India.
Ponting, the coach of Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League, said that his team ‘matches up names-wise with any other team’ in the competition.
"This year we have been able to put together a good team. Hopefully, we don’t have the injury issues we had at the start of last season. (Chris) Morris and (Kagiso) Rabada didn’t play any role last year, so if they come in fit and healthy, along with our Indian top-order batting of Shreyas (Iyer), Prithvi (Shaw), Shikhar (Dhawan) and Rishabh (Pant), certainly our team matches up names-wise with any other team," he said.
Delhi Capitals, formerly known as Delhi Daredevils, will play their opening game of IPL 2019 on March 24 against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium. Delhi are one of the only three teams (Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kings XI Punjab being the other two) to have never won the IPL title.
