The 2019 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is quite special for India fast bowler Ishant Sharma. It marks his return to the cash-rich tournament after he went unsold last year. Secondly, Sharma will represent his stated-based franchise, Delhi Capitals, who bought him for Rs 1.1 crore.

So far, he has played for Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kings XI Punjab, Deccan Chargers, Rising Pune Supergiant and Kolkata Knight Riders and this year, the 30-year-old Sharma returns to the iconic Feroz Shah Kotla stadium from where his journey started.

"For me, Kotla is something more than a ground. Right from the under-17 level, I have played all my matches here. I have a number of memories here," Ishant said.

"Not only for me, but for all those who represent Delhi, Kotla is a memory for them because it is where it all starts. It is from here that we went ahead to represent our country.”

Ishant, who has taken 58 wickets in 76 IPL games, said he will look to put in a show and help his side win their maiden title.

“I have got this opportunity after 12 years to represent my home team and I feel very proud. I will try to deliver my best and I hope we win the trophy this year.”

Delhi Capitals will play their opening game of the tournament on March 24 against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium.
