Hits and Flops Eliminator: Edmonton Royals Vs Winnipeg Hawks
It was a heartbreak for the Royals as they had to go out of the tournament, despite a bright start to their innings.
Here are our takes on the hits and flops from this match.
Ben McDermott (WH)
McDermott made sure to stay till the end and saw his team through with a MoM performance. He mixed caution with aggression in his 39-ball innings of 65, handled the seasoned Royals bowlers with aplomb and picked Kevin O’Brien for the ‘kill’.
David Warner (WH)
Warner came to form in the last match and carried it in this match too. He never allowed the asking rate to climb too high till he was at the crease and laid the foundation for the successful chase with a 36-ball 55 at the top.
The Royals were going at 10 an over till the 15th over of their innings but the triple strikes by the veteran Emrit (Anwar,Behardien, and O’Brien) derailed their progress to a great extent. He was mercurial with his death bowling and had eventual figures of 4-28.
Kevin O’Brien (ER)
The Royals looked up to the experienced Irishman to take advantage of a bright start and push the total beyond the reach of the Hawks. But he could score only 2 off 5 balls. O’Brien could not make amends with the ball too and leaked 47 runs in 3 overs.
Farhad Behardien (ER)
He could not show the worth of his experience. When his team needed to up the ante and push the score beyond 200, Farhad crawled to a run-a-ball 18.
