Hit and Flop GT20 Match 1: Toronto Nationals Vs Vancouver Knights

Enjoyed the season opener yesterday? So did we. Like every nail-biter, this one also had its fair share of ups and downs and hits and flops.

Here are our takes on five hits and flops from yesterday’s match-

Steven Smith (TN)

He was all over the headlines a few months back for all the wrong reasons and how well he chose this big occasion to hog the limelight once again, but this time, with the right reasons!  Smith overcame a scratchy start to anchor the TN innings after the early loss of the first wicket and went on to score 61 from 41 balls.

Anton Devcich (TN)

This Kiwi made a bit of a name for himself early in his career as an explosive batsman, only to fade away from the international scene soon afterwards. But he was in full bloom yesterday and did his reputation no harm with a match-winning 92 off just 44 balls, with 6 towering sixes.

Ewin Lewis (VK)

He showed signs of brilliance in IPL 2018 and yesterday was no exception. His explosive opening salvo of 96 runs off only 55 balls  was the major force behind the imposing score posted by the Knights.

Chris Gayle (VK)

Everyone expected a ‘Gaylestorm’ but it was not to be.  The ‘Universal Boss’ did hit one six but was not quite at his best yesterday.

Kieron Pollard (TN)

He had a miserable IPL 2018 by his own high standards and just could not get going yesterday too (4 runs from 6 balls). The Toronto Nationals would definitely want a lot more from this seasoned T20 campaigner in the coming matches.
