One way or the other, Umar Akmal continues to hog the limelight for all the wrong reasons. Throughout his career, Umar has been involved in several controversies and the Pakistan batsman has once again invited trouble, this time for breaching a team curfew during the recently-concluded ODI series against Australia.

He attended a music concert of hip-hop artist Akon in Dubai on Friday (March 29) without permission from the team management, and also returned late to the team hotel. Umar was fined 20 per cent of his match fee and received an official reprimand for a late night out ahead of Sunday’s match at the venue.

Umar pleaded guilty to the charge and apologised for his actions while accepting the sanction.

"I am glad that Akmal has realised his mistake, and has accepted and apologised for his actions, which were clearly unprofessional and in no way can be ignored or overlooked," said Wasim Khan, PCB's Managing Director.

"The PCB expects a high level of professionalism and commitment from its players, and this action is a reiteration and timely reminder that any indiscipline shall not be tolerated or accepted."

Umar, however, failed to impress on his comeback - managing just 150 runs in five matches.
