Ajinkya Rahane, the Rajasthan Royals captain, has been fined INR 12 lakh for slow over rate during their match against Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Sunday (March 31).
“As it was his team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Mr. Rahane was fined Rs 12 lakh,” said an IPL media release.
The match saw Rajasthan Royals succumb to their third successive loss in the tournament. After being asked to bat first, the Super Kings scored 175/5 courtesy MS Dhoni’s unbeaten 75 off 46. In reply, the Royals were restricted to 167/8 in their 20 overs.
Rajasthan Royals will next face Royal Challengers Bangalore in Jaipur on Tuesday (April 2).
