MS Dhoni’s unbeaten 46-ball 75 and a splendid show from bowlers helped Chennai Super Kings make it three wins out of three games in the 2019 Indian Premier League, as the defending champions edged past Rajasthan Royals in a close contest at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Sunday (March 31).
Asked to bat, CSK lost their top order cheaply but skipper Dhoni played sensibly and with support from Suresh Raina (36) and Dwayne Bravo (27), he guided the three-time IPL champions to 175/5.
In reply, a late cameo from Ben Stokes (46*) and an all-round effort from Jofra Archer (2/17 and 24*) went in vain as the Royals fell short by eight runs. For CSK, Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur, Imran Tahir and Dwayne Bravo took two wickets each.
This was RR's third successive loss this season.
