Mumbai Indians have named West Indies fast bowler Alzarri Joseph as replacement for the injured Adam Milne, who had been ruled out of the IPL earlier due to a heel injury.
Joseph, who will be taking part in his maiden IPL, has represented the Windies in nine Tests and 16 ODIs. The 22-year-old has played just seven T20s, taking nine wickets.
Also, Lasith Malinga has been granted permission by Sri Lanka Cricket to skip the domestic Super Provincial One-Day Tournament and join the Mumbai Indians team. Initially, Malinga was set to miss the first six IPL matches in order to play in the 50-over competition back home to be considered for World Cup selection.
In a statement on Tuesday (March 28), SLC said that the decision to release Malinga was because "he would get an opportunity to play with much stronger opposition in the IPL, which consist of international players."
Meanwhile, after losing their tournament opener to Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians will aim to bounce back when they take on Royal Challengers Bangalore at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Thursday (March 28).
